There’s been massive flooding across Bihar province in Northern India and into Nepal. 250,000 homes have been wiped out. More than 2 million Indian and Nepalese people have fled their homes and are now utterly dependent on food aid. Many are on the brink of starvation. Others are injured. Still others are falling ill and developing infections. CHRISTIAN BLIND MISSION'S partner is working flat out to deliver food, water purification tablets and hygiene kits to thousands of families. We’re also giving medical care to those who are injured and sick, and at immediate risk of life-long disability. In these situations, people with disabilities are too often overlooked. cbm is making sure this doesn’t happen by giving families relief and medical care.
Needs Assessment
cbm's partner, Emmanuel Hospital Association (EHA) has identified Madhepura and Murliganj block as some of the worst affected locations. Our team in Bihar have identified the following needs to rescue and restore families in these areas:
- food
- hygene
- temporary shelter
- medical assistance
